Taylor Johns

Interview with Taylor Johns
Q: What is the first book that made you cry?
  1. Hmm, Iโ€™m not sure. The only book thatโ€™s popping into my head is Moto by M.Never. Itโ€™s not the first book to make me cry, but it really made me ugly cry.
Q: What is the most unethical practice in the publishing industry?
A: Most unethical? Thatโ€™s hard for me. Iโ€™m a honest person so anything thatโ€™s done outside of honesty is unethical for me.
Q: Does writing energize or exhaust you?
A: A little of both.
Q: What are common traps for aspiring writers?
A: I hate to say this but believing that everyone is good at heart.
Q: Does a big ego help or hurt writers?
A: Everyone that finishes a book needs to feel pride in themselves. You accomplished a great thing, but when you start to feel you are better than everyone else or you start ignoring the ones that havenโ€™t made it to a list or to the topโ€ฆ Well, no one likes a self-centered asshat.
Q: Have you ever gotten readerโ€™s block?
A: Nope. Iโ€™ve one-clicked so many books that I have one for every emotion I want to get lost in.
Q: Did you ever consider writing under a pseudonym?
A: Hmmmmm.
Q: Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?
A: I ask my readers what their thoughts are from time to time, but I write whatโ€™s in my heart. What the voices tell me to put down.
Q: Do you think someone could be a writer if they donโ€™t feel emotions strongly?
A: Iโ€™m not sure.
Q: What other authors are you friends with, and how do they help you become a    better writer?
A: Iโ€™m one of the lucky ones, I have a tribe. There is Brooke Lee, Jane Anthony, Virginia Johnson, and Lainie Suzanne that I talk to daily. We are there for each other like weโ€™ve been besties for years. We support. We listen to rants. We talk to each other during emotional breakdowns when the business is too much. We donโ€™t see each other as rivals. We want to very best for each other no matter what.
There is also Shannon Youngblood, Muffy Wilson, and Cordelia Michelson that are part of the tribe, but they are so busy with life and writing world that we donโ€™t chat often. But the moment I or they need anything, we are there.
